The N-330 hub uses a continuously variable shifting system to give the rider minute control over the ride of their trike. A world first: HP Velotechnik Scorpion fs 26 – The first full-suspension, foldable touring trike with a large 26-inch rear wheel ******** (Summary) *********** Friedrichshafen. Trike riding is becoming even more efficient and comfortable. On stand FW-300 at the Eurobike trade show, recumbent manufacturer HP Velotechnik will be the world’s first manufacturer to exhibit a full-suspension foldable touring trike with a large 26-inch rear wheel. Compared to the smaller 20-inch wheels conventionally found on recumbent trikes, the larger wheel on the suspended rear of the new Scorpion fs 26 model provides an even smoother ride, less rolling resistance, and easier obstacle traversing. The combination of full suspension with tried-and-tested chassis technology from the automotive engineering sector and the positive running properties of larger wheels sets new standards in riding dynamics. Thanks to HP Velotechnik’s sophisticated self-locking folding hinge, the vehicle can be quickly folded into an easy-to-transport package with dimensions of just 123 x 83 x 69 cm. The new Advanced Steering Geometry (ASG) enables riders to control the Scorpion fs 26 smoothly and precisely, giving it a small turning circle of just 5.5 meters (18 feet) despite its long wheelbase. From November 2012, all HP Velotechnik trike models will come with ASG as standard. In addition to the ergonomically-shaped ‘BodyLink’ hard shell seat, HP Velotechnik also offers the option of the further improved ‘ErgoMesh’ seat. This not only provides optimum ventilation for the back but also offers more side support thanks to the enhanced seat design with strengthened, anatomically-shaped side cushioning. Three-wheeled Rocket S-Pedelec Scorpion fs 26: Technology from Automotive Construction for Maximum Speed up to 45 km/h In the promising class of fast electric bikes, HP Velotechniks Scorpion fs 26 S-Pedelec focuses on secure road holding for a multi-track vehicle with chassis technology from the automotive engineering sector. The touring trikes low center of gravity and the good rider support in the ergonomically-designed recumbent seat enable dynamic acceleration. The low air resistance thanks to the efficient recumbent position extends the rechargeable batterys range, especially at the high assisted speeds of up to 45 km/h reached by the speed pedelecs. At such high speeds, a well-aligned, full-suspension chassis is extremely important. Motorized three wheel bicycles: Scorpion fs 26 S-Pedelec The Scorpion fs 26 touring trike is the perfect basic vehicle for powerful motorization and high average speeds of over 25 km/h. The speed pedelec is driven by a high-performance 400 watt rear wheel hub motor. A 36 V Li-Ion rechargeable battery with a 636 Wh capacity provides a great deal of energy. The recuperation function, which uses the motor as a generator when braking, extends the range through energy recovery. The trike comes with a start assist function as standard, which propels it to a speed of up to 20 km/h at the push of a button without pedaling.

The Greenspeed Anura is designed to be easy to ride. Rather than having a low seat like most tadpole trikes (2 wheels front, and 1 rear), and some deltas (1 wheel front, and two rear) the Anura seat is set at the same height as a kitchen chair, at 17 to 18” above the ground, plus there is no cross member or front axle in front of the seat, so mounting and dismounting is much easier. The higher seat also gives more confidence in traffic, yet having the seat closer to the paired wheels than the single wheel gives more stability than expected. Unlike other delta trikes the Anura has a differential as standard equipment, which gives balanced two wheel drive. And with 75% of the weight on the driving wheels V 33% for a tadpole trike, the Anura has far superior traction on loose or slippery surfaces, like gravel, mud, or snow. The three wheel disc brakes provide more powerful braking than most trikes, and steering is light, positive, and accurate with a small turning circle. To reduce weight the Anura frame is made from 7005 aluminium alloy, and the rectangular main tube allows the length of the frame to be varied by 10 inches to suit the leg length of rider, while keeping the front frame in perfect alignment. 16” wheels are standard on the Anura because they result in a lighter and more compact trike, than could be built with 20” wheels. Furthermore with the special Scorcher tyres they roll easier and give a better ride than most 20” wheels! However for a still higher seat and more ground clearance, 20” rear wheels are now available, and later in 2013 there will be a 20” front wheel option.

Big Wheel and Gearing The large 26” rear wheel of the Magnum BW has a number of advantages over the 20” of the Magnum SD. Instead of needing the special 52/42/30 crankset of the Magnum SD, the Magnum BW uses the standard Shimano Sora 50/39/30 crankset so replacements will be easy to get. Another advantage is the larger wheel lifts the rear derailleur and chain further from the ground, so that the trike is more suited to off road use. Plus, as the 26” wheel is the most common size bike wheel, there are a greater selection of tires available. Finally, the larger rear wheel just LOOKS better than having the same size wheels all round. In the interests of saving money some trikes have twist grip shifters. While this might be OK on an upright bike with horizontal handle bars where one can get one’s thumb and fore fingers around them, they are awkward to use on vertical handle bars, where one can only get the two smaller fingers around them. Thus the Magnum BW uses the Shimano Dura Ace Bar End shifters which make changing gear easier. Also the Magnum BW has a special MicroShift front derailleur which only needs ½ the force required by the Shimano Sora F/D. We also found that the 11 speed chains now in common use were only lasting a fraction of the mileage obtained from 9 speed chains, plus the 11 speed gears needed more frequent adjustment. Plus, witnessed by the fact that a number of people are choosing to ride single speed machines, it was obvious that 11 rear speeds were not needed. Thus the Magnum BW has “only” 27 speeds.

The Hand Magnum draws on over twenty years of development at Greenspeed, plus has a host of new features over previous Greenspeed Hand Cycles. Right from the start we realized that unlike most bike riders, hand cycles riders were not normally able to get off their machines and push if the hills were too steep, so we added extra gearing systems which enables riders to climb mountains when they felt they needed the challenge. The Hand Magnum continues this theme by using three gearing systems. A nine speed derailleur system, a three speed rear hub, and two speed crank system. This gives a gear range of 946% or from 12 inches to 110 inches, plus the hub gears and the crank gears can be changed both while in motion and when stationary.

The 700 is designed to be fast and efficient. A low, aerodynamic body position and lightweight vertebrae-spaceframe put the rider it the perfect position to generate power and speed. The 700c Thru-Axle rear wheel offers excellent power transfer, and high gearing gives you the shifting options needed to reach your personal best. Simple and thoughtfully designed, the 700 is engineered to move.

Big Cat's Pocket pulls all the features of a full-size trike and packs them into a small package. It's perfect for commuting, fitness rides and running errands. The lightweight aluminum frame, quick handling and stable geometry does it all and does it all well. Hills are a non issue with a 27-speed SRAM drivetrain with TruVativ cranks for power and grippy, all-conditions Avid disc brakes to slow you down on the descents.
