The Maxxis Aspen is one of their premier XC race tires, designed to roll fast and provide enough traction for rough trails.
A low center tread height allows the Aspen to roll quickly, but substantial side knobs provide cornering traction. The low profile tread design rolls fast and still delivers grip for climbing and braking. Aggressive side lugs dig into soft terrain to provide additional cornering traction. These tires are intended for hardpack, loose over hard, and medium conditions.
The MaxxSpeed (2023) is Maxxis's top-shelf rubber compound for XC racing. It’s a high-silica content compound which reduces rolling resistance while also enhancing wet traction. Compared to the previous 3C MaxxSpeed, the new compound has approximately 25% less rolling resistance in a lab setting. EXO is a cut- and abrasion-resistant material added to the sidewalls of many Maxxis mountain bike and gravel tires. This densely woven fabric is lightweight and highly flexible, ensuring that the performance of the tire remains unaffected. Choose EXO Protection for enhanced durability for gravel, XC, and light-duty trail riding.
Maxxis Tubeless Ready (TR) tires offer better traction, lower rolling resistance, and fewer flats by eliminating the inner tube. You can run lower pressures for improved grip and control. Maxxis recommends using 2.40″ Wide Trail XC tires on 30mm internal rims. The tires are compatible with rims as narrow as 25mm, but Maxxis does not recommend exceeding 30mm wide.
